Overview
PAI serves adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Ramsey and Washington counties of Minnesota, providing services that foster learning and connections with the community. PAI has been a leading provider of day and employment services for 35 years, and offers a compelling blend of stability and opportunities to support growth and change.
The board member role is an opportunity for experienced professionals to flex their skills, learn new ones, and make a difference in the lives of special people. Board members attend four board meetings per year and serve on at least one committee (Finance, Development, Program/Operations, Executive).
Experience in these areas is of particular interest: Accounting/finance, business management, nonprofit management, healthcare, government, advocacy, fundraising (not a fundraising-focused role), business services, and healthcare.
Summary of Board Member Responsibilities
• Understand the mission of the organization and work to ensure that the mission is relevant and that plans and resources are aligned to support fulfillment of that mission.
• Prepare for, attend and actively participate in all quarterly and any off-cycle board meetings, barring unavoidable scheduling conflicts. Review and provide guidance, feedback or questions regarding board meeting materials for any meeting not attended.
• Actively participate in setting organizational goals and objectives; assess performance against them.
• Participate as a member or chair of at least one board committee (Finance, Development, Program/Operations, Executive).
• Maintain high ethical standards for board members and PAI's president.
• Comply with conflict of interest and other relevant policies.
• Maintain confidentiality of all board meeting content and proceedings, as well as any sensitive information outside of meetings.
• As needed, participate in hiring, periodic evaluation and ongoing support and supervision of PAI’s president.
• Actively support fundraising and board development through direct contributions, networking and oversight/management.
