Austin-Based Book Designer Needed (Onsite + Fast Turnaround) — Layout, Typography & Print-Ready Files
Location: Austin, TX (Onsite required for initial session)
Timeline: Start immediately — complete within 1–3 days
Engagement: Short-term (few hours to ~1–2 days total)
Project Overview:
I’m looking for a highly experienced book interior designer who can quickly help refine and prepare a sample book for print.
This is a fast, hands-on project requiring both editorial judgment and strong design execution.
Scope of Work:
1. Editorial + Structural Review (light but sharp)
• Improve flow, clarity, and pacing
• Identify structural issues (repetition, weak sections, transitions)
• Ensure tone consistency
2. Design System Creation
• Typography (fonts, hierarchy, readability)
• Margins, spacing, and grid system
• Chapter openers, pull quotes, callouts
3. Interior Layout (Adobe InDesign)
• Apply consistent styles (paragraph + character styles)
• Clean, professional layout across the book
• Image placement
4. Print Production Prep
• Set up trim size, margins, and bleed
• CMYK / color handling
• Export print-ready PDF
How We’ll Work:
• 2–4 hour onsite working session in Austin (initial alignment + design direction)
• Followed by remote execution to complete layout and final files
Ideal Candidate:
• Based in Austin, TX (or willing to come onsite)
• Strong portfolio of book interior design (not just covers)
• Expert in Adobe InDesign (styles, master pages, print setup)
• Experience preparing files for professional printing
• Comfortable working quickly and making decisions in real time
