Our client, a prominent athletic organization, is seeking a dedicated and energetic Assistant Sports Coach to support the head coach in developing and leading athletic programs in Washington, D.C. This hybrid role involves on-field coaching and training, as well as off-field administrative and strategic planning. The ideal candidate will possess strong coaching skills, a deep understanding of athletic development, and the ability to inspire and motivate student-athletes.
Key Responsibilities: Assist the head coach in planning, organizing, and conducting practices and training sessions. Provide instruction and guidance to student-athletes on sport-specific techniques, strategies, and rules. Monitor athlete performance and provide constructive feedback to foster improvement. Support the recruitment and evaluation of prospective student-athletes. Collaborate with coaches and staff to develop game plans and strategies. Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes during practices, training, and competitions. Assist in managing team equipment, supplies, and facilities. Contribute to fostering a positive team culture and promoting sportsmanship. Help maintain accurate records of athlete progress, attendance, and academic standing. Participate in team meetings, scouting, and analysis of opponents. Assist with travel arrangements and logistics for team events. Engage in professional development to stay current with coaching best practices and sport advancements. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Sports Management, Education, or a related field. Previous coaching experience at the collegiate or high school level, or equivalent playing experience at a high level. Demonstrated knowledge of athletic training principles, conditioning, and sport-specific techniques. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Ability to motivate and inspire athletes of diverse backgrounds. Strong organizational and time management abilities. Flexibility to work a non-traditional schedule, including evenings, weekends, and travel. CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain. Passion for sports and dedication to athlete development. Proficiency in relevant sports analysis software is a plus.
