Our client, a forward-thinking agricultural technology company, is looking for an experienced Agronomist & Crop Science Specialist to join their fully remote team. This role is crucial for advancing sustainable farming practices and optimizing crop yields through scientific research and practical application. You will be involved in developing innovative solutions for crop management, soil health, and pest/disease control. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of plant physiology, soil science, and modern agricultural techniques, combined with a passion for leveraging technology to improve agricultural outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct field research and trials to evaluate new crop varieties, fertilizers, and pest control methods. Develop and implement strategic crop management plans tailored to specific soil types, climates, and market demands. Analyze soil samples and crop health data to provide actionable recommendations to farmers and stakeholders. Research and advise on best practices for sustainable agriculture, including water conservation, nutrient management, and soil conservation. Identify and diagnose crop diseases, insect infestations, and nutrient deficiencies, recommending appropriate solutions. Stay current with advancements in agronomy, crop physiology, genetics, and agricultural technology. Collaborate with plant breeders, entomologists, and other scientists to support product development. Develop educational materials and present findings to agricultural professionals and growers. Utilize data analysis tools and GIS technology for field mapping and decision-making. Contribute to the development of new agricultural technologies and practices. Ensure compliance with relevant agricultural regulations and environmental standards.
Qualifications:
Master's degree or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, or a related agricultural field. 5+ years of experience in agronomy, crop management, or agricultural research. Strong knowledge of plant physiology, soil chemistry, entomology, and pathology. Experience with field research design, data collection, and analysis. Familiarity with sustainable agriculture principles and practices. Proficiency in using agricultural software and data analysis tools. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information. Ability to work independently, manage field trials remotely, and collaborate effectively with a dispersed team.
