Africa Manager

Company Description Labor Mobility Partnerships (LaMP) is working to unlock one of the largest untapped opportunities in global development: enabling workers from low-income countries to access quality jobs across borders at scale.    We partner with governments, employers, and implementers to build practical labor mobility pathways that work in reality — not just on paper. That means identifying real demand, solving constraints, and helping create systems that can grow over time. Job Description We’re hiring an Africa Manager to help build LaMP’s portfolio of work across the continent. This is a builder role.  You’ll help identify where opportunities exist, develop relationships that unlock them, support fundraising and partnerships, and help turn early-stage ideas into real programs. You won’t just be managing projects — you’ll be helping create them.  You’ll work closely with the Director of Programs and the broader LaMP team, while operating with a high degree of autonomy on the ground. This role involves a mix of external engagement (employers, partners, funders, governments) and internal execution (moving ideas into action and making sure things get done well).  If you like operating at the intersection of strategy, partnerships, and execution, this role is for you.    What You’ll Do  Build and advance opportunities  Help shape decisions on where LaMP should engage and why  Identify promising labor mobility opportunities across countries, corridors, and sectors, with a particular focus on Europe   Help shape early-stage ideas into concrete and scalable program concepts   Move opportunities forward — from initial conversations to actionable next steps   Develop relationships that unlock work  Build partnerships with employers, recruiters, training providers, industry actors, and ecosystem organizations connected to cross-border labor markets   Cultivate relationships with government stakeholders (e.g. labor, migration, skills, foreign affairs) to advance emerging partnerships and policy proposals  Identify champions and collaborators — and help convert interest into action   Support fundraising and partnerships  Build and own a pipeline of fundable opportunities within Africa  Develop concept notes, proposals, and partnership strategies   Engage donors and strategic partners   Position LaMP in collaborative or consortium opportunities   Represent LaMP externally  Initiate and set the agenda for meetings with partners, employers, governments, and funders   Represent LaMP at regional events, convenings, and conferences   Communicate LaMP’s approach clearly and credibly   Drive increased visibility and network for LaMP in Africa   Help deliver what we build  Own program design, launch, and coordination   Keep workstreams moving and partners aligned   Step in to solve problems and unblock progress   Oversee and produce deliverables to ensure quality and timeliness     Who This Role Is For  This role is for someone who is proactive, resourceful, and comfortable operating without a playbook.  You’re likely a strong fit if you:  take initiative and follow through   are comfortable building relationships across business, governments, and development actors   can move between big-picture thinking and hands-on execution   are credible in external settings, but not overly hierarchical   seek long-term sustainability in solutions over quick wins  have a track record of putting plans into action  enjoy building something that doesn’t fully exist yet     What Success Looks Like  Growing and converting a pipeline of credible, high-impact opportunities in Africa   Strong relationships with key government, partner, and market actors   Tangible progress from idea → partnership → program → results  Increased visibility and trust in LaMP as a partner in Africa     Why This Role  Africa will be central to the future of global labor mobility. This role offers the chance to help shape that future in a practical way — by building real pathways, real partnerships, and real programs.  If you’re excited by the idea of building the foundation for millions of new jobs for Africans on the move, we’d love to hear from you.  Qualifications What We’re Looking For  Experience delivering results against ambitious plans on the African continent   Success in prior roles where working in partnership with diverse stakeholders has been crucial – bringing the ability to understand interests across sectors (public, private, and charitable) and geographies (specifically, Africa and Europe), and knowing when to compromise, negotiate, or convince, as appropriate   A combination of strategy development, program design, and project management and execution  Strong communication skills and external presence   Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities   Enthusiasm and ability to travel up to 30% of time  Unwavering integrity and a commitment to bringing better jobs to people on the African continent  Especially relevant experience  Experience working in the private sector or managing collaborations with private sector partners  Track record in fundraising, donor engagement, or proposal development   Experience in labor mobility, migration, jobs, skills, or related sectors   Additional Information Location: This is a remote position (work from home) based in Africa, with a preference for Nairobi, Kenya.   Compensation: We are committed to offering competitive salary and benefits packages aligned with international non-profit organizations. For this position, we anticipate a salary range between USD $65-95K, depending on the country of employment and individual qualifications. The estimated range is in USD but salary payments will be negotiated and made in local currency.   How to Apply: Please submit a one-page cover letter and resume through the SmartRecruiters portal. Given the time-sensitive nature of this role, applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. First round interviews will begin mid-June. We aim to have the selected candidate begin in early August 2026.  LaMP is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.  Compensation: USD 65000 - USD 95000 - yearly
